FAQ

Remodeling questions, answered

Estimates, schedules, mess, permits and more. Service-specific questions are answered on each service page.

Estimates and pricing

Is the estimate really free?

Yes. We visit, measure and send a written, itemized estimate at no cost and with no obligation to go ahead.

Why do remodeling estimates vary so much between companies?

Mostly because of what is and is not included. Waterproofing, subfloor preparation, patching and protection take time and materials. Our estimates list them line by line so you can compare like with like.

What if something unexpected turns up behind a wall?

Old homes sometimes hide water damage or wiring that needs attention. If that happens, we stop, show you, and give you options and a price before doing anything extra.

During the project

Will my house be a mess?

We cover floors and the path through the house, seal off the work area to contain dust, and clean up at the end of each day.

Who do I talk to during the job?

One point of contact from the estimate to the walk-through, so you always know what is happening next.

Do you handle permits?

We check the permit requirements for your city and your scope before work starts, and build the inspection time into the schedule where one is required.

Services

Do you do small jobs?

Yes, from a single accent wall or one room of flooring up to a full primary bathroom or kitchen. Tell us what you have in mind.

Do you supply the materials?

We can supply everything, or install materials you have chosen yourself. Either way, we confirm quantities and lead times before the job is scheduled.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We are insured, and licensed in the Dallas–Fort Worth cities we work in. We are happy to share the details with you before work starts.

General

What does a free estimate include?

We visit the house, measure the room, talk through what you want to change and the options at different levels of finish, then send a written, itemized estimate. There is no cost and no obligation to go ahead.

Which areas do you work in?

We are based in Dallas and work across Dallas–Fort Worth, including Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Allen, Richardson, Highland Park, University Park, Carrollton, Addison, The Colony, Rockwall and Lucas. If your city is not listed, ask; we travel for the right project.

Can you handle more than one room or trade at once?

Yes. Many projects combine trades, for example a bathroom with new flooring through the hall, or paint and floors before a move-in. One team plans the order of work so each trade is not waiting on another.

How long does a bathroom remodel take?

Most bathroom remodels run one to three weeks on site, depending on the size of the room and the scope. Custom tile, moving plumbing or changing the layout take longer. You get a schedule with the estimate.

Do I need to move out during the work?

Usually not. We seal off the work area, protect floors and the path through the house, and clean up at the end of every day. A kitchen remodel is the one project where it helps to plan a temporary kitchen elsewhere in the house.
