Remodeling in Allen, TX
Allen's homes are mostly suburban family houses from the past few decades. Many are ready for a second round of updates, starting with the rooms that take the most daily wear.
Homes in Allen
Allen grew from a small town into a large suburb over a few decades, and its neighborhoods show that growth in layers. The older parts of the city have single-story and two-story brick homes from the 1980s and 1990s. Newer areas, built through the 2000s and 2010s, have larger two-story plans in master-planned subdivisions with HOAs. Many also have a game room or bonus room upstairs.
Across both, the homes are mostly slab-on-grade and built for families. That makes the wear predictable: cabinet finish worn around the sink and trash drawer, hall bathrooms with chipped tubs and failing caulk, carpet flattened in hallways and on stairs, and scuffed walls in every high-traffic room.
The good news is that these houses rarely need structural work to feel updated. Walls are generally square, plumbing locations are usually sensible, and slabs make floor installs predictable once flatness is checked. That lets you spend on the parts that change daily life, such as a tougher kitchen surface, a shower that is easy to clean and a floor that stands up to kids and pets.

What Allen homeowners ask us for
Kitchens are often the center of an Allen remodel because they take the most use. Replacing counters, adding a larger island with seating and improving task lighting make the biggest difference. Our page on kitchen island design and installation covers walkway clearances and seating.
Hall bathrooms shared by children come a close second. A tiled tub surround and a new vanity with a quartz top hold up better than the original finishes. Replacing a fiberglass tub with a tiled surround is also the moment to add a niche for bottles and a hand shower.
Interior paint is the third common project. In busy family homes, sheen matters as much as color:
- Flat or matte for ceilings
- Eggshell or satin for living areas and bedrooms
- Satin or semi-gloss for trim, doors, kitchens and baths
Settle sheens room by room when you plan interior painting for a family home, because scrubbable finishes save repainting later.

What homeowners say
Legacy created the most beautiful high end backdrops for an event activation for my client in just 1 week. We loved the beautiful wood work and absolutely will be using for future projects. Outside of the quality of work, they are professional and extremely responsive. Thank you!
Love working with Sebastian and his team. Has helped with multiple projects and will keep using Legacy Home Solutions in the future.
Sebastian and his team did a great job making repairs to our home after having a leak. He was very transparent about timing, pricing, and always making great suggestions. They replaced all of the flooring in our bedroom and bathroom, built a brand new vanity, and made a few upgrades to the bar area! Will definitely be using them again in the future!

Questions from Allen homeowners
What countertop holds up best in a busy Allen kitchen?
Quartz is a common choice for families because it is non-porous and does not need sealing. Granite and quartzite are also durable but need periodic sealing. Laminate costs less but scratches and does not take heat well. Compare samples in your own kitchen light, and weigh care and cost drivers side by side.
Can a hall bath be remodeled while kids still need it every day?
It takes planning. A hall bath is out of use for most of the project, since the toilet, tub and vanity are removed at different stages. Families with a second bathroom manage fine. If it is the only full bath for several people, the work can be sequenced to shorten the time it is unusable.
Is LVP or laminate better for an Allen home with pets?
Both resist scratches better than most hardwood. Most luxury vinyl plank is waterproof, which helps with pet accidents and kitchen spills. Laminate often has a harder wear layer but can swell if water sits on the seams. A common split is LVP on the main floor and either product in bedrooms.
